Buying and Selling on ASOS Marketplace

ASOS Marketplace is a website where all kinds of fashion/fashion accessories are bought and sold.  There are some really unique pieces and with such an extensive range, everyone from the pretty tea dress wearer to the 90’s grunge lover will find an item to treasure.  It is also a fantastic place to pick up some styling ideas – whatever your wardrobe persuasion.  If you are thinking of selling, you can sell individual items or set up your own boutique via ASOS.  I’m really looking forward to selling my vintage pieces online through this site, and have been working out the best way to shoot my garments.  Has anyone else bought from here before?  What was your experience?

Vintage Fabric Ruched T-Shirt Dress

This navy floral print T-shirt dress truly is a wardrobe staple.  It is an easy to wear day dress and only takes a couple of enjoyable hours to make.  There are 6 pattern pieces in total and the dress is shaped simply with 5 rows of stitched elastic at the waist.  Details of how to shape a garment in this way coming soon…

Comic Book Art in Stitch

After the Upfest street Art festival last weekend I felt really inspired and decided to create my own piece of Artwork.  I printed out some comic book style pictures and cut them up, shaded them in and stitched over them to create this colourful textured collage.  The paper was then stitched on to fabric (using drop feed embroidery) and stretched and stapled on to these canvas boards.  This was a quick and fun way to create some decorative Artwork to brighten up the house.  You could use any theme and play around with layering too to create different effects.

Upfest 2012

This weekend Upfest 2012 bought some of the most talented graff artists to Bedminster.  The Bristol based Art festival is growing more popular each year and the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and creativity.  Highlights included a live drawing competition, a real train carriage being painted in the street, live music from some top local DJs and MCs, and some impressively sized pieces!  The evening events were slightly quashed with an apocalyptic style downpour of rain for 2 hours – next year lets hope for a bit more sun!  A very cool and inspiring day.
